Question on D12 hoosiers
« on: September 20, 2013, 05:39:18 am »
I had only 4 races on this mower and 3 of them with stock timing on flywheel. I was running turf masters different kinda tire pattern. After the race when i turned up the timing on flywheel to 3rd mark. I notice my turf tire was almost balled. In the race i was just spinning the tires  basicly sliding for 4 laps into the race then spinned out in the straight away and then my chain poped off. I was surprised i was in 1st place and 5 tractor lenghts ahead of anyone until I spinned out,  So i was wondering if the D12 tires would last longer then turf master tires.

RD20 is the harder compound the D12 is the softer compound, recommend the RD20 compound

They were on sale so I picked them up for 100 dollars. If they do go like I think ill definitely give those a shot or D50s.

Tires got traction now but now the 35 chain is getting all the weight on it and snapped it every time.

Then something is wrong alignment or tention wise or quality of chain, we run the 35 as primary on our  single and two twins and dont pop em.

Ive heard of people running high quality 35 chain for as much as 2 seasons.
You never win a race by focusing on one aspect of the race!  Motor isn't everything, but you better have a good one!  Chassis too!  But remember, a driver can take a slow machine and make it faster!  I may not have/be the best of any of these but I'm trying!

oh im not running 6 inch rims im running 8s with 16/8.5/8 with 8 by 9 inch rim. Before I was running 6 inch with turf masters that's when I spin more then anything now im running these it just broke black and slive chain in half. I had it lined up tight and on the straight away it just broke in in half.

We are running the #35 RLV gold chain with no master link and haven't had any trouble since we switched.

Typically d12 tires are more towards ice racing. from what I've been told use d40 compound and slap sone tire softener on them. i hear they grab a little bit more and won't spi., it what I'm trying 2014 race season

Well seems to be doing alright so far. Never was able to test it again. My buddy runs them on fxs has no problem with it dosent spin out often. Im  running wider rims then he is so more tread on the ground. I mean way more.
