Question on tire size
« on: September 11, 2013, 12:22:05 pm »
I'm trying to decide what size tires to run up front I have 6.5 wide wheels and was wondering if I should go with a 6 or 6.5 wide tire also if I go with a 7 inch wide rear wheel should I run the 6.5 or 7.5 tire ?? Any input is greatly apriciated.
Hope for the best but expect the worst!!

13X6.50X6 is the most common tire size used.

On my Sportsman and Mod-XR I prefer 13x5.00-6 on 6x6 rims for my fronts. They are lighter, lower and provide all the traction I need on them. It also "widens" your front stance. Plus they simply look better.

13x6.00-6 are hard to find but will fit well. 13x6.5 will also but most use 6x7 or 7.25 for the 13x6.50.

Awesome thanks for the info one more question I'm stuck between going cheap and buying 8x7 steel wheels for the back or spending the extra money and getting thev8x8 aluminum wheels any big advantages to the aluminum wheels ?

The biggest advantage is weight. An old drag racing formula is every pound taken off the reciprocating weight (ie: wheels, tires, rotors, etc.) is equivalent to 7 pounds off the chassis.
