cornfused!!
« on: August 05, 2013, 11:25:12 pm »
Im not sure if i am understanding this but can I turn a stock 15.5 hp I C ohv briggs in to a racing engine by adding some after market parts to it, or do i have to buy a briggs racing engine.  I have read some other posts on briggs flat head really didn't understand it much do they come on certain briggs models or are they universal and what are the advantages? I also see posts which read 28 cubic inch. I understand that the engine is a 28 cubic inch block. How would I find out the cubic inch of my engine. On my engine there is a plate that reads Model: 28N 707 does the 28 mean 28 cubic inch or is it just a number. Im new to this and would like to continue to build I am looking to race in the C/P class just need to know where to start on the engine. Thanks

Is this engine a good candidate?

It would be a good one to start out with, but most are leaning toward the 33's.  As far as the model, yes, yours is a 28 CID engine.  Lots of goodies for those.

YES 28 MEANS 28CI, THE BRIGGS MANUAL HAS THE DIFFENITIONS OF THE NUMBERS. THE HOARSE POWER REALLY DOESN'T MEAN TO MUCH. THE 28CI HAD SEVERAL DIFFERENT HP RATINGS. GET THE MANUAL IT WILL HELP! THERE MY BE A DOWN LOADABLE ONE IN THE FLATHEAD BRIGGS SECTION ON THE HOME PAGE.
