« on: July 23, 2013, 10:10:08 pm »
Like I said I have a 14hp OHV Kawasaki from my old grass cutter. Are these motors any good??? I run GP an am running a Briggs now but wondering if I keep it for a backup motor or build another machine and stick this motor in it. I know nothing about these motors good -bad or otherwise.

Short stroke and only 26 cid. You will lose some ground coming out of the corners with a GP.

So is it any good to build for any other class.

The only class it may work well in is Superstock / IMOW. The 420 engine is very robust and very reliable, Being low on displacement(420cc/26ci) it cannot compete with it's big brother, the 17hp Kawasaki FC540V long stroke thumper which is allowed in IMOW & GP. You will get stomped upon coming out of the turns or on re-starts. Plus, there are no aftermarket performance parts commercially available for the 420.
