Where to buy splined pulley for transmission?
« on: July 06, 2013, 11:40:35 pm »
I have a 93 MTD mower with a 7 speed transmission. I am looking to replace the transmission pulley with something smaller. The shaft that the pulley is on is splined and the pulley is held on with a nut, the shaft is about 5/8". All the pulleys I have seen on here are held in place with a keyway. Where can I buy a smaller pulley to fit my transmission?

Steve thank you for the input but that doesn't answer my original question.

Maple Grove or some other places possibly.  Going to a smaller pulley on a vari-drive is not going to help you any.  If this is a racer scrap the vari-drive and get a transaxle

You use that vari drive it work but not for long that tranny will get blown up. You might as well get 700 or trans axle. Trust me a buddy of mine built someone a race mower with vari drive. It worked good for a few races until it blows up and blew up both of trannys with vari drive train.
If you cant find one make one.

I am racing it one time with some friends from work, nothing serious. Other than that I am just going to tool around on my property with it. With that being said I am not looking to swap out the transmission.

I am not sure what a vari drive transmission is. But my transmission has 7 speeds and a shifter on the right side next to the seat.

What is Maple Grove?

Anyone know where I can get splined bore pulleys?
