Here are the rules as they now are. There may be some minor tweaks as we learn more.

Below are the rules for the new Mini Pro class,
1 Must be a small chassis machine, wheelbase 34" minimum to 39" maximum.
2 May use the existing Mini Chassis as long as wheelbase is 34" to 39"
2A NO rear engine riders.
3 May build a frame resembling a factory tube frame.
  a. This will be 2X1X14 or 11 gauge rectangular steel tubing. NO ALUMINUM!
b  Frame will measure outside to outside 12".
c Length is dependent on wheelbase.
4 Sheetmetal must be of lawn mower origin. If small ("huffy style") hoods are not available the larger lawn mower hoods may be used and shrunk (chopped and channeled) to "fit" the smaller frame size.
5 Mower “Brand” name will be the same as the hood being used. Ex; Homemade frame/wheelhorse hood = wheelhorse mower.
6 Must use a factory mower deck or deck halves.
7 Must use a factory lawn mower seat or its replacement. NO Kart Seats

Engine and Driveline Rules,

Engine will be
Honda GX200 or its 196cc Clone equivelent.
Stock Block, Stock Side Cover, Stock Head. NO BILLET. Head may be aftermarket cast.
Must use stock crankshaft or Max Stroke Crank only.
ARC Billet Aluminum Flywheel #ARC-6619 only.
Restrict bore to +.030 to prevent crazy bore sizes.
Billet Rod okay.
Aftermarket Piston okay (No more than .030 over)
Any Cam.
Remove governor.
Valve train upgrade okay (STOCK size stainless steel valves only. Aftermarket Valve Springs, Keepers, Retainers, Pushrods okay) Valves must be STOCK diameter.
NO billet or Roller Rockers.
Corrected rockers are okay.
No CC limits on combustion chamber.
Porting and polishing is okay.
Stock Valve cover (pulse fitting okay).
Carb must appear stock but may be internally modified. NO stand-off tubes.
Must run aftermarket Air Cleaner.
Engine MUST appear stock from the outside.
Exhaust pipe, no restrictions but must exit away from driver.

Clutch WILL BE a shoe/drum type only.

Must run a jackshaft between the engine and rear axle. This eliminates huge rear sprockets and gives more gear ratio combinations.

Recommended tire size 13X5X6 or 13X6.50X6 Lawn Mower Tires Only. NO tire prep.

No offset or stagger.

Hollywood, good seeing you Sunday....Get a haircut you Hippie! LOL

Over the weekend, I had the opportunity to see these machines up close and personal. Due to a major downpour/flood, I did not get to see them run.  I very much like the ease of construction and ergonomics. Most of all, the simplicity and reliability of the chosen components that are extremely reliable.
Cost is beyond affordable. I have seen some Videos and had conversations with those who have seen them run. They have significant speed and look as though they could finish mid pack with the current Mini’s (ARMA Flat heads, not OHVs’s). They Handle very well and are quite safe.

You do NOT, have to find an old Vintage mower. The frames can be hand made as long as they fall within guidelines.

I very much like the affordability concept and may be building one for the wife soon. I would consider one for my self but due to my “girth”….I would not be competitive. However it might be rather entertaining to see my Big self on one. LOL.

Numerous inquiries from the Mason Dixon group for something affordable and reliable on a local chapter level.

Why not make the engine size 212cc max since that is what Harbor Freight advertises their clone as now and that is the most affordable and easiest to find engine around. Just my .02     I LOVE the idea behind this class though

I already own 2 of these motors. They seem to be holding up pretty good. They are on a tiller and a go cart. I think they would make good power on my other short chassis. Not to mention the last one I got on sale for 99 bucks.

rules are rules and that's what the group agreed on to be used. maybe in time we will go with the 212,but for now the 196 clones are what is being used, are easy to get race ready, and all the mini pros built now have these and are working well.

The challenge is to build and compete under any given set of rules.
I am not against the higher dollar stuff but its nice to have many machines on the track racing not just a couple.
Look for the good for everyone not just the one.
There has been tons of positive feedback from the people that have seen them, the Kart guys like them too.

Here is some ideas of whats out there and some of the prices.

He could with you guys Al because I was the only mini who ran at Potterville last year a lot. But my engine blew up and now I got fxs almost done. So dirt devils has a lot more minis or also there new track called Mid Michigan race way. Pluse at potterville if you have fx mower you be racing with fxs and twins. If you got ap mower you be racing sp and cp.
