Craftsman C/P Build! central michigan!
« on: May 25, 2013, 09:47:44 pm »
Hey fellers ive been reading on here for a month or two while working on my project, 1993 craftsman 18 hp opposed twin, so far i have built a new front axle, spindles, tie rods, steering shaft, everything is complete  but one more bearing for the shaft and ill be on to finishing my live axle install, which is just finish welding cassettes in, i have been trying for weeks to find a peerless trans with NO luck in my area. also i have 3 lug kart hubs on the front and need wheels, i plan on buying new rubber. any input is appreciated ill load pics tomorrow, also does anyone run the 3 lug kart hubs in the rear? any pros or cons? from what i have read the C/P class is what i figured would suit my build best, stock motor, 4 1/2 frame height, full body mower. any suggestions? thanks!

any pros or cons?

Smaller tires, for lower fenders.

Can't use 6" wheels on the back of a CP class mower.

The largest wheel diameter available for the three lug hubs is 6 inches.  CP class requires 8" wheels.  You will have to buy hubs for either a 4" on 4" bolt pattern or 4 on 110cm.  EC sells a hub to fit both patterns.  Make sure to order the ones for your axle size.
You never win a race by focusing on one aspect of the race!  Motor isn't everything, but you better have a good one!  Chassis too!  But remember, a driver can take a slow machine and make it faster!  I may not have/be the best of any of these but I'm trying!
