a question on front and rear axle placement
« on: May 25, 2013, 09:06:49 am »
Well i started my build and im not clear on where to put the axle's. Im looking for around 4" of ride height, Is there a way to calculate the placement? Is there a regulated spot they have to mount, like right where the stock axle and transaxle was. im building a jd 111 and im not sure what tires im gonna run yet. Im sure this has come up before but i dont have time to look through a 124 pages of old threads or searching to find the answers. So i would appreciate any help i can get. Thanks much.

I would check the rulebook for the organization and class you are building for.
From what I understand, you are not allowed to alter the wheel base, so the axles would have to remain in the stock locations

You can raise and lower the axle in the frame at the stock location. So its best to tack weld 4" tabs off the bottom of your frame and then get your wheels and tires. Then cut the frame so everything fitsnice and neat.

if your building an mtd style frame with standard 8x8 rims on back and 6x6.5'' in front, look through the build sections and ask, somebody will give you the measurements you are looking for, they all pretty much the same on the rear, front axle placement is pretty standard as well, if i still had my mod-x i could measure, but im sure somebody give you the measurements!
