before you go tnikering with the carbs check out everything else, such as intake leak carb mounting gaskets etc. There is usually a reason other than carb. WHat makes you think its lean!!! You can cheak for leaks using a can of carb cleaner while its running spraying the intake and all if the rpm changes you found the leak. Also all jetting is fixed jetting. If it is a carb then there is a restriction i.e. trash in one. When disasembling be very careful very slow and watch there are springs and orings that will fall out and sometimes you won't even see it.

the reason i say its lean cause that side stumbles and pops until i choke that side a bit then it smoothens right out this is all while idiling and i used carb cleaner to check for leaks and there is none anyway nothing changes when i did it
maybe just some crap in the carb or any thoughts

OK try cleaning the carb and its jets like I said be careful to not loose any springs out of them or reinstall in the wrong location. Look in the carb, you should have a blue tube sticking out into the venturi. When cleaning the main jet in the bottom should be a brown jet. If not this jet can be drilled to .040 same as a brown one. Be sure both carbs are the same. NOW keep in mind the Indians tend to pop and run rough one one cylinder when cold or havn't been started in a while. They simply hate to run cold. And idling one always tends to be a bit leaner acting. How does it rev once hot and run once wrmed up. I am talking running for at least 5 to 10 minutes. Warm. If you have Jon Jon's Old mower It was always very cold natured. Fact if I remeber right it doesn't even have the bigger carb's on it. You should put a set of ohv 17 hp carbs on it. Then you will see one heck of a difference. Again you need the  blue tube and brown jets or drill the jet to .040. Get with Troy Larsen there in Printice, he is my team mate and he too runs a tvt-691. He can help alot also. Will get you the numbers for the carbs all my notes are at work.

It will be tuesday before I can get to my notes. They are all at work. And yes the Venturi is way bigger. Thats what the motor needs is the bigger carbs with the proper jets. You will be suprised at what they will do for it. I will look here and see if I can find anything. I am working on some projects at work so I took all my notes up there.

OK my memory and my part smart book marks does me well. The carb number you need is a 640072a it is superseded by 640330. The blue imulsion tube number is 640043 and the main jet number is 640040. Now you can drill the existing main jet to .040 and save a buck. But then again if ya gotta buy the bit the jet is cheaper.

Good luck on the air filter. Best thing to do is order the filter and adapter from us at work. That way you know you can get replacements. Adapter is 42.95 and the filter is 39.95 and a new filter for that thing if you can find it was dang near that much. I am sure its a combonation of small carbs and wrong tube. It has always idled rough, but run well once on it. You never raqce at idle anyhow. LOL
