Best GX390 Dual Valve Springs
« on: February 23, 2013, 01:00:09 pm »
Whats the best dual valve springs for the GX390 on the market? I was thinking about a set of comp cams JR dragster 550 springs. But I was looking for some really good ones.

I'm getting the comp cam 966-2 springs. Their the .600" lift springs. Put 966-2 in the search bar on comp cams website. They will pop up.

Really, i should of not gave you that answer. I was just thinking of a good spring recommendation for a nice 390/420 average build. To give an accurate suggestion it depends on rpm, cam and valvetrain weight used. The 966 is a bit more harder on valvetrain and cost a litttle power if your not planning on running over .500 lift at the valve and trying to turn engine 8k+. With stainless 1.5" intake, .475 lift @ valve, roller rockers, and lightweight moly pushrods 7500 rpm is not a problem with a properly setup 965. Comp uses the Pacaloy material on their 965 and doesn't on the 966 and that is really why the 965 was my first answer in reference to to your question asking about "really good ones", i was thinking quality.

Try these out! They are identical to the Comp 965 other than being Nickel plated and slightly more seat pressure (Cant beat the price either) :

Im running vegascarts comp 55lb dual springs and i think they will be really good underload i mean shoot it was pain in the butt to put the retainers on lol. Just remember any springs you get from where ever from what iv seen and herd they will get worn out and you should get new ones every year.
