Vanny vtwin 14hp stock cam spacer
« on: February 17, 2013, 11:40:23 am »
I've searched on hear and read about a spacer that needs to be made in order to maintain oil pressure on a bare no governor stock vanguard twin cam. I've removed everything on the cam, it's now hollow. I just don't understand what the spacer is suppose to look like and the best way to do it. A picture of this spacer would help a bunch!

A small tube that goes inside of the cam core you will need to stick a long skinny rod into the cam from opposite end of ball. Popping ball out be sure you have a rag around it or you will loose parts. There will be a ball a cup a spring and a washer. Using calipers measure from the shoulder the washer sits on down to the shoulder inside cam that will be how long the spacer slah tube is. Been along time since I have done one so do not remember how long it is. Hope this helps cause I got no pictures.

When you say measure is it from where the washer sat to the top of cam?(lobe side) or the side the ball and spring came out of?

from where the washer sat/sits down into the cam. When done it will go in as a easy droping kinda snug fit (not a drive in fit) then washer goes in and sits on original shoulder then sroing and ball with retaining cup.
