GX340/GX390 ELECTRIC STARTER INSTALL
« on: February 10, 2013, 01:14:31 pm »
Hey guys, is there any secret to installing an electric starter on recoil start engine? Didn't know if the starter is centered by the mounting bolts or if the hole needs to be drilled perfect to install the starter. Thanks

The starter should be centered by the bolt holes and are usually already drilled from the factory. Just open up the the hole where the starter nose comes through the block, and make it a tight fit. Then all you will need is a flywheel with a ring gear

Yep, FInally found the Honda instructions on how to just knock it out with a hammer and clean up the hole. I was trying to be too careful. Thanks for the reply.
