The Super Bee II: Second Swarm
« on: February 07, 2013, 05:24:37 pm »
Ok -- this is the process so far!  A great BIG thanks to every bit of help in making this the best build yet.  :D

Since I called my first mower the Super Bee, I thought I'd do the next best thing and call this one the Second Swarm.  Thought you needed a good laugh.

Once the paint cures, this will be the new logo:

Sand, wait. Sand, wait...

Clutch moved.

Clearanced for 16x8 Tires/Wheels

Waiting for the next race can be like waiting for paint to dry.  Literally.

A rear view, as a "before" shot...

May the sanding...BEGIN!

Off the truck, and in the shop.  Here we mow!

These photos are kind of mixed up, but you'll see the order.  More stuff coming, stay tuned.

The new craftsman hood so cool.  I bought myself a craftsman hood just like it.  I have no use for it because I'm a deere fan

Part 2!

Tranny and Chain:

Preliminary Rear Brake Set-up:  With a vented rotor, I think I am afforded the luxury of mounting the caliper up high, and might cut down on debris accumulation, but we'll see about that bit.

Front Brakes Roughed In:  Thanks again RacinJason003 for these awesome rotors!

Another couple of views of the chain and semi-auto oiler:

The poor little sacrificial lamb in the background, LOL

Stay Tuned!

P.S. I may have to turn the big Opposed engine to carb-up-front.  I hate the thought!  But this hood will be painful to cut...

No, I don't really PLAN on seeing anything come out, but if it does, I want to put it to good use.  I still plan to lube the chain the old-fashioned way...

I got a few more pictures in before the camera's battery died, so here's the latest update...

LF Brake Line Configuration:  I had to put a twist in the brake line to clear the engine and the tire...

RF Brake Line: This one was a bit tougher, as it has to clear the engine and the soon-to-be-extended exhaust...

Dual Master Cylinders this time: I will be adding the proportioning valve next...

Master Cylinders and Linkage/Pedal:

Trying to figure out the crazy exhaust:  I don't know if you guys do this, but I use a hose clamp with the threads cut out of the band in a couple of places to tack the pipe together.  It allows for twisting, bending, etc. and you don't have to struggle keeping it together while you do!

The Final Product:  These will be wrapped to keep underhood temps down...

I'll have more updates soon, I just have to charge the camera battery first!

Next update:

Body panels installed for now, still have to make brake lines and bleed brakes:

An Interesting Hood Hinge Idea:  Washers lock it in during use, but the left side is a bit shorter to allow it to slide off.  Safety pin installed to avoid mishaps.

All that's left now is brake lines, electrical, and fuel tank!!
