If the valve covers have studs through the center with nuts holding it on then it will be a vanny. If it uses bolts around the perimeter of the valve cover then its an intek. The valve covers on the vanny will be aluminum and the valve covers on the intek will be steel. The engine shroud on the vanny is usually sheet metal where the intek is plastic.

Vanguard is a much better engine than Inteck.The heads can flow lots and making power is much easier
