Engines for FXS
« on: October 09, 2012, 07:16:45 pm »
Iv seen and herd so mean kohler, GX390, brigs, etc but i wonder i wanted to see some of those 5hp ones. For example has anyone done a blockzilla i know those make big HP for 5 horse. I mean those you can make as fast as most top fxs engines.

Must be OEM blocks Blockzxillas are not legal. They are purpose built race engines amd were never on any type of mowers.

Ok but what lawn mower had a horizontal GX390 in it. Not calling you out George as there are others that run them too. I've seen hundreds and hundreds of mowers but have never come across one that had a horizontal one in it.  Please educate me!

Thanks

I think George or someone else posted once on here that there are mowers made overseas in Europe with GX390 horizontal engines in them. That's why they are legal in USLMRA

The GXV390 were used on Honda and Snapper Mowers and the GX390's were used on a pull behind and sulky mowers. FXS's have a 450lb min weight limit.. most built 5's of any type will lug with that kind of weight.

The Greyhound and Predator 420's were used as well? To me they are equal to the Blockzilla. Just my interpretation.

After what Tyler had posted I went looking and found a Honda garden tractor that came with the GX390. Sold in the US no less.

Learned one thing today.  Must be a good day,

I agree 100% Lester. Just because it's a clone doesnt make it any more legal than the other.

Honda and Predator being 2 different companys but Honda usually has the name on it. The intek regardless of cubic inch is still a briggs. We all know the deal though, cant make everybody happy no matter what Lol.

Ya iv seen seen those in europe that had those motors but they didnt back in the back in the day use them for that type of mower and pluse that mower isnt legal. Pluse GX390 is ohv not a flathead like those england mowers would had stock on them i psted a video with i think few that you were thinking that had some. Like i said again the ones were on mower where vertical shaft not horizontal it was like GXV390.
Pluse not to mention i never seen a predator be on a stock mower before either?
