Ryan and 2nd place just pulled the whole field by a straightaway before the first lap was over  and there is still people saying they can run with the kohlers just imagine if the track was not along half the field would have been lapped. Man I sure would like to try a kohler

We had just gotten rain in the F/X race and had to cut it short. Track went away in the rain. After it stopped the crew pulled dirt from the infield and worked it in. There was a big push to get the FXS’s & FXT’s race in before the next downpour.. We really needed to work the track in some more but the clouds over our shoulders and Radar did not look good at all.. We had a river coming off the track just minutes after a couple of US Open race and the weekend was done...

Ryan is fast no matter what he runs.  He does his research and development on every motor he runs/builds.  He builds his own stuff (parts, chassis, etc) and that helps him become faster.  The Kohlers are wicked fast but they can be built to have something called too much power.  I would love to spend some time and money to build a Vanny PROPERLY, I believe it would run with the Kohlers IF the chassis could handle the power. Most of the equation in the FX classes is chassis, the motor is only a part of the equation.  Oh and did I fail to mention Ryan is a pretty good driver to boot.
You never win a race by focusing on one aspect of the race!  Motor isn't everything, but you better have a good one!  Chassis too!  But remember, a driver can take a slow machine and make it faster!  I may not have/be the best of any of these but I'm trying!

Easy to go fast when no one is in front of you or a fast one is in front of you. When there is no way to pass and you draw out back your stuck where you are unless someone messes up. You can see how slick it is out of the groove.

i agree 100% George. if you draw in the middle or back of a field, on a less than desireable track, you will have a tough time getting anywhere, no matter how much power you have.
If you quit when you're behind, you will never win.

I know how that is I always draw a bad number every race and I have to fight to even see the leader I believe that's one reasonwhy I haven't got a win this year usually 2nd or 3rd

The second place driver was former "driver of the year" Rich Webb from Michigan, my Ryker Racing team mate. He had one of my little mildly built de-stroked vanguard engines I put together for another guy a few years ago, and it was just a spare back up engine to get him through for the last few events. Next to my machine he was the second fastest qualifyer earlier in the day with the Briggs, not far behind me at all. The track was pretty slick the first couple laps but came in real nice, good enough to pull the wheels down the main straight away, we've only had a few tracks like that this year. The crew did a nice job of making it into a race track in the very short window of time they had.

I've seen videos where Ryan started in the back and still finished first.  But I've been chasing a kohler all year but I'm getting there

I know people say all that power is unnecessary but if you got it and can hook it up.and the mower handles right younger dominate and people will.always be looking at your back bumper and that's all they will.be.able to.do. I love being able to use half throttle and still run up front

I have started in the back and drove to the front. The first US Open I think I started 10th or worse against the best in the USLMRA and drove to 3rd with my little Kohler. I just ran out of laps.

It happens, but the statement that many seem to miss is the one that states and I quote:
i agree 100% George. if you draw in the middle or back of a field, on a less than desireable track, you will have a tough time getting anywhere, no matter how much power you have.
If you have power on a good track you can do lots of things.  On a short, wet, rutted, dusty, add your poor track condition here, it becomes more difficult.  Long tracks, tacky tracks, good tracks in general tend to favor the more powerful motors.  Also, if you have an advantage in center of gravity due to lowered seat height and or smaller wheels, you should be faster.
You never win a race by focusing on one aspect of the race!  Motor isn't everything, but you better have a good one!  Chassis too!  But remember, a driver can take a slow machine and make it faster!  I may not have/be the best of any of these but I'm trying!
