It's too late now but a 1" x 2" tube can be welded inside the frame rails to strengthen it &  you use pillow block bearings mounted on top of the frame rails for the back axle.

The stock wheelbase was 47 1/4.  I'm at 47 1/16 now.  It will change slightly with caster adjustments and even moving washers.  I would think there would be a little bit of lead way in the tech inspection because of that but, I don't know.  I would hate it if 3/16 messed me up.

Bonewco I seen were you posted that in a thread back in Janurary.  I thought about doing it but just wanted to try something different.  With a piece of 16 ga 1x2 on 50 inch span I can bounce on it and it deflects quite a bit, with me weighting 200 pounds.  I can jump on my rail and it feels like I'm landing on the concrete floor.  Tubing would also added over 2 pounds more per rail.  I'm not saying either way is right or wrong, in the end what I have done might work terribly.  Metal fabrication is a hobby of mine, I'm still and will always be learning.

Ps since you can't hear tone through typed words, I am in no way being a smart alec.

You won't have an issue with tech, not why I was asking. I have a set of those frame rails but no mower so I was wondering.

THANKS for the info.

No problem. Just mentioning another way to do it. I've built 2 this way & they have worked great.

Well I've been busy with work and what not.  I built my nephew a wagon his birthday thought I'd share a pic.

I welded a couple pieces of 1/8 x 3 flat on the bottom of the motor plate to reinforce it.  Pretty cool that the motor plate already had the holes in it for the vanguard.

I ground the welds off the sides of the front axle and tilted it on a 10 degree angle so it would better match the caster angle.  I used soon 1/8 flat to tie it into the frame.

Here's the motor plate welded up and tied into the front axle.  Should be a good base for the motor.

That's it till I get caught up on some side work....  no side work = no toy $$$

I've had alot going on the last few weeks but have got to sneak out to the shop from time to time.

I got my trans plate made and welded in.

I got my spindles arms set where I wanted.  I tied a string to the center of the rear axle and ran it to the center of the kingpin.

I bent the arm so the last hole was under the string.

Next was the time consuming task of modifing the fender.  First is laying out the cuts with tape.

Here's the point of no return.

Here you can see the buck it made to build it around.  I cut and added a triangle peice in to flare it out wider. And I stretched it to make it taller and get the length back.

Setting it on the chassis to see how it looks.

I failed to take pictures but here's the out come.  I used an old tool box drawer to make the recess for the seat.

Had just enough body filler to skim everything.  Sanded and primed so it doesn't rust till I get more filler.  Probably won't do much more to them till paint time.  Here's a couple pics.

Those fenders may be ok locally, but they aren't legal for uslmra or arma. Idk about soma. Can't cut the seat area out to drop it the seat.

They're good for racing here locally.  I plan on getting another to make us and arma legal.
