Older Craftsman
« on: September 17, 2012, 06:21:36 pm »
Well, I went and did it. I found a little basket case Craftsman 36" 8hp for super cheap and have been spending my time trying to get it to run. Finding information on these seems difficult at best. I remember seeing one run at Wamic on Labor Day in I believe the Powder Puff race (but I'm not sure). My hope is that someone might be able to give me an approximate model year. According to the PDF posted elsewhere this number makes it an 80's engine? The body style doesn't support my findings though.
 The engine model # is:191707.
 The Mower model # is:536-81 360 ND3
If I'm interpreting the class rules correctly I can build this for A/P class but I want to double check before I spend too much.

Here's the pics I took. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v324/comminatchalive/Resized%20Mower/

Thanks

give the code info from the motor, that will tell exactly the year of the engine. i may be wrong, but im pretty sure that the mower is from the late 60's, and someone probably re-powered it with a newer engine.
If you quit when you're behind, you will never win.

Did you have any strength issues cutting that much out of the back portion of the frame?
