390 flywheel
« on: September 15, 2012, 04:24:04 pm »
Anybody have a 390 flywheel they can measure the O.D.  of and the thicknes when laying on a bench. Otherwise I have to take my engine of and dismantle to measure my flywheel. Mine is an electric start as well.

Thanks  Dennis

How accurate measurement do you need? I've got my GX390 engine out right now. I can measure it for you. The 3 hole hub is taller than the edge. I'm guessing your gonna make a billet steel flywheel?

Yes I am having a steel wheel made. Just bought a piece of 4140 for it. Building a new altered engine for my son.

Are you going to use the crank trigger set up?

I'm building me a 8hp GX240 Honda alter right now and was gonna use the ARC racing billet flywheel and a MWSC 14lbs front pulley and should bring me around 18ish pounds of rotating assembly.  If that's not enough I'll have a 8" 20 lbs flywheel and machine it for a browning taper hub to put on my PTO.

It will use a crank trigger but I will make my own. The ports on this dupor head I have are very nice. They have lots of potential. He has to run a stock cam but compression will be high with good springs and port work with a kohler 1.0 carb on a 4 inch spacer.

I would upgrade to a GX390 Honda cam.  Yes the ports are very nice in these GX390! I've ported a few. I can get my GX390 to 6800 RPMs with single HD springs. That's just with milled head and ported ports and stock size valves and carb.
