Neighbor blew up the CV18.. never seen anything like it.
« on: September 06, 2012, 10:52:05 pm »
A friend of mine has a Kohler CV18 i think it was a CV. Does CH mean horizontal? Its a vertical v twin with a single barrel carb. On his Wheel Horse Toro Hydro. He let a neighbor borrow it and it quit. Come to find out it has no compression. Checked BOTH cylinders with a screwdriver in the plug hole and neither one moves the piston. I felt the piston in both and pushed it down with the screwdriver. My first question is have you ever seen a motor wipe out BOTH rods in one shot in lawnmower duty? Second question is are the parts worth anything parted out to you guys? It has a high torque starter that may work on my vanguards. I don't know if there is a difference in bolt pattern or anything.

I'll have more questions too. Like what to look for to swap this thing out model/hp wise. Wanting something to drop on without wiring modifications and such.

Thanks!
Brian

Ok good to know. I thought it looked similar.

Crankshaft still spins the top screen and bottom drive pulley.
