A few questions??
« on: August 31, 2012, 05:54:30 pm »
I am really want to get into garden tractor pulling, but I just have a few questions.

Do I have to use shaft drive, or can I use belts?
I know shaft drive is more desireable, but I absolutely cant find one.

Can you build a frankenmower, lol, I mean use cub parts on an old craftsman mower?

How exactly do you set one of these up, If I had a few pictures I would have a little bit better understanding on what direction I need to be going.

I have not had too much exposure of the sport so I am a bit inexpeirenced. haha

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
   Lucas

Where are you located? Stock classes are fine for belt drive. Modified class not so much. Try looking on craigslist. You may ha e to get 2 or 3 parts tractors and make a whole one.

I am located just north of Springfield, Mo. I have really good fabrication skills and mechanical knowledge. I just dont know where to start as far as setting one up. I have an old 750 kawaskai motorcycle motor that runs fine I was really wanting to put one one for my girlfriend. I was wanting to build something more "extreme". Any ideas would be greatly appeciated. I would just like a few pointers.

Thanks in advance

What he is trying to say is, we only do mower engines here, and follow the sanctioned builds
for the application. Pullers have different groups than he mentioned..... but we still do not do motorcycle engines.

ok, well I guess that idea goes out the window, haha, I am just looking for a good starting platform to have a little weekend fun. I guess I will just check with my local pulling associations to answer my questions

thanks again,
