I measured mine... the hole on mine is 1 3/8".... probably can find a washer, Fastenal can get them I'm sure.. so make sure you measure before you buy.

still an awesome tip... I have an slight back issue, so got my brother in law over to team flip to get (weighs in just under 100lbs, no sense aggitating old issues) so I finally got to see the bottom of the engine!!

Yup washers work great and if you can get them 1/4" thick the better they work. Thin washers or even thin flanges will bow when you tighen them making for a poor seal thus leaking exhaust and back firing and possibly even burnt valve.

should the washer fit outside or on top of the port?

if I use a 1 1/4" (I think, just say big) it fits perfectly outside the lip.... I think this would be the right one, just looking for confirmation. 1 1/8" fits just on top of the lip, this does not seem like it would be right.

george I read your exhaust sizing / tuning post (found in search) what engine was that for?

I use it for pretty much any engine I build. Indian twin Briggs twin and all the singles I have built.

thanks for all the help guys.. bought some steel today, should start doing fab work before I go  back to work next week.

I'll be following Georges tubing size ideas.

I may run 2 mufflers, a simple tractor style from TSC to help with noise and I've ordered a supertrapp with spark arrestor (cheap, needed more for spark arrestor to be safe) don't really want to pay hundreds of bucks for an all in one (bike or four wheeler) I'd still have to chop up. the two mufflers wouldn't cause issues would it?
