Can you bore a 40 intek block to take 49 pistons and keep the crank, connecting rods  from the 40, if not what is the largest I can go

You would have to cut the OEM Briggs sleeves out on a 40 and have sleeves for the 49 bore installed. But they are known to be short lived. Due to block getting weak with overbore.

Of course all your motors are known to be "short lived"

Im not an engine builder anzadon, but ask George about this. The 40 and 44 blocks don't have enough webbing to keep the bore straight.

It want woe there isn't enough material there to bore it that big for the 49 sleeve plus I'm sure u would want to go bigger than 49 anyways but u can use the crank cam rods flywheel heads pan u just need a 49 block and pistons of whatever size u want to use I just built a  monster intek but I liked my 40 better as far as rpm capabilities but the big bore motor with lots of compression makes gobbs of torque and gobbs of horsepower also. Im not sure u can make a 44out of a 40 but people have made 44into 49 they have a tendency to blow head gaskets but what can I say my bore is so big I tend to blow them too since I have to  use a 44copper cut out to my bore . Just be careful whatever u do and don't go too outrageous on compression and a major bore  or u will spend more in head gaskets than. U should

You need to "O" ring the heads and use the copper head gasket, then you can run the compression ratio as high as you want

I have 2k in my 49 build and I already had crank rods cam heads springs pushrods flywheel starter all I had to have was block big sleeves and pistons.it all just depends on how much power u want oh I had big valves put in the heads too that's all for 2k

So it cost you $2k for pistons and a bore job?

probably more its a bad motor it has way more than a supersportsman chassis can handle I haven't been turning but 5700-5900 and its bad fast im gonna turn it to 6200-6300 this weekend so I can get out front easy I;ve been starting in the back of the pack every time I have 2 3rd place finishes and a 4th place finish with it geared that low and it still slicks the tires after 1 day at the track. It needs to be on a supermod chassis but there is no one around here that runs a super mod.
