race engine valve cover spacers

Is it just me or is everyone having trouble with these race engine spacer on a 390 i go one way its to tight and the gasket leaks you back it off and its too loose .

i use Permatex "right stuff" sealant (have used silicone too) to adhere spacer to the head and really don't have any problems with leaks? you are using the stock gasket right? where is the leak?

yepp stock rubber gasket on bottom and the rubber gasket race engines gives you on top.So i should be okay then if i dont use the bottom gasket and use permetex i was going too try making a gaket instead of that rubber one. thanks

don't use a gasket on the bottom, just use some firm drying sealant like i mentioned above. Try using the stock gasket on the valve cover.

Mine leaked for the first two races then no longer. After when I pull it to check vlaves again I will be using the grey permatex I use on my transmission cases.

We'd like to get their new valve cover that eliminates the spacer,but $175 is a little hard to shell out right now.
