turning a motor sideways?
« on: May 28, 2012, 12:17:20 pm »
i have a 14hp kaw with the exhaust on the bottom, with the exhaust being on the bottom i would have to notch the frame so the exhaust to fit. my friend/team mate says that will weaken the frame and i should turn it so that the front of the motor will fit with the exhaust sticks off the right side. if i do that then i will have to cut a big piece off of my hood. what should i do?

Run ur exhaust straight down through the engine plate then turn it when its underneath the pulley. Just use a hole saw if your plate is solid.

Post a picture of the chassis you are building. Maybe we can help. Most singles that I have done (Tecumseh, Kohler) also come out the bottom and i just did a quick 90 degree and the over the frame.

ill post a pic later, im just tryin the motor turn right now, but if it dont work right then ima put it back front and notch the frame just a tad bit.

look at 2nstoys supermod build pics he had to notch for his header to

i looked at it and if i turn it back foward ima notch it just enough to make a right turn with the exhaust to run it.

thank yall for all the info  :D
