390 carb question
« on: May 23, 2012, 05:07:24 pm »
Having issues with a carburetor that has me wanting to  :bash: this thing. First off its a 390 .020 over, mild cam, with a blillet flywheel. The carb is a .925 bore from AGK. Having problems with it dumping fuel out the vent and running rich. I've checked and cleaned this several times, changed main jets out and emulsion tube. It also wants to fall on its face coming out of the corners but comes to life after its on the top end. Everything I have tried has not worked. I can put stock carb back on with a main jet change and it runs flawlessly with a good plug reading. Any ideas whats going on?

SURE THEY DIDNT BUILD AN ALKY CARB SETUP SOUNDS LIKE IT. ALSO PROBLEM WITH MOST KART SHOPS THEY ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH MOWER STYLE RACING HOW WE PULL EM DOWN IN THE CORNERS KARTS FOR THE MOST PART RUN IN A VERY NARROW RPM RANGE THUS CARBS ARE BUILT MUCH DIFFERENT.

It's suppose to be a gas carb but that doesnt mean anything. I don't know how many phone calls and emails I have made to this place and they keep telling me to put a bigger jet in it. Have not been very helpfull. I've sent this out to EES and he went through it and didn't find anything other than taking the 110 jet out of it and putting a 102 in

Because I don't have one lol. I'm sure they would be better by far. I'm not a big carb guy so I don't know if I'm missing something simple or what.

sounds like float may be hanging up. maybe try the needle and float from your good carb and see if that fixes it? do you know what size pilot it has?

I'm not sure what size the pilot jet is. I did take needle and float apart and cleaned them, but never thought about the needle having a burr on it or something. Might have to try that.
