Not a problem on yours Ronal it was only slightly over weight. You were in the low 9 kb range! As indicated above I've found several that were running full size images off of Photobucket and those were running 200 - 300 kb avatars. There we got issues, but we are finding quite a few in that 10 - 20 kb range, and that all adds up to with 20 of them on the page.

-------------------

Got your list in the back room Squidd. All but one of them, comments there on that one.

------------------

Tom it depends on what you're running for graphics software. Most cheaper software won't allow you to do it because it isn't sophisticated enough, but... I use file compression on the image to reduce the number of colors and pack the pixels in a little tighter. In Photoshop you select "Save for Web" to do this. Then reduce image quality by up to 65% in some cases. Most of these avatars if I tweak the colors and lighting they will actually come out looking a little better at that 65% reduction in image quality.

Many of those we're seeing problems with are larger images that need resizing as well. The software sees an image that exceeds the maximum defined dimensions, it simply defines the dimensions correctly in the code and that doesn't reduce file size, it only reduces the displayed dimensions of the image. Those I'm physically reducing to size, then compressing them. Just like racing, every time we trim few kb here or there we speed the forum up a little. Do it often enough and everything clicks along a little easier for those on dial-up.

Yep... lightened yours up a little while I was playing with it, so it isn't quite so dark. I can actually see a mower in there now.

I heard that!! I think we need to reinstate that resize option there Chris!! It doesn't seem to block them it only lets them run full size! :lmfao:

Yeah if you just want a picture of the front tire it wasn't bad!!

Tried both images meangreen, the side shot made the mower much smaller. This was a far better angle.
