What class? Not being sarcastic but a craftsman can be built for about any class so you got to be a little more specific as to which class.

Class rules/club rules really will dertermine what you can or can not do as well as let you know if this style machine would even be competitive with major modifications...or would be relagated to stock class in which case you do little to no mods...

Is this a Sears Garden Tractor... or a Craftsman Lawn Mower...? Big Difference...

Let me rephrase the question...

Are you planning on building a circle track racing "lawnmower"...?

Or building a straight pulling type garden "tractor"...?

You are in the garden tractor pulling forum is why I ask...

Centrifugal clutch RAGB and straight axle probably not a good choice then...

Do you have a verticle shaft or horizontal shaft engine...?

To be honest your starting out with two strikes against you already with a lawnmower "chassis" and a vertical shaft motor...You might be better served looking for a different "tractor" chassis machine to start...

Something with a horizontal shaft motor...then go with a clutch/driveshaft/cub cadet rear end type setup or a belt drive "sidewinder" heavy cast iron transaxle setup...
