You do not want to go higher than 30*BTDC if running gas. If methenal/alky then 40-45* works well.

Well im running round slide keihin carb so far its good but i got feeling for this OHV single im be expending the main jet collection. So far i probly 10 different sizes of jets. Just remember that in fall in winter it will probly be different jet then what you were running in the summer.

how did your flywheel come out? i am looking at getting a rotary table for my mill. i dont know if i will get a 6 inch or a 10 inch. 2 flywheel builds will pay for it. it will be a vertical and a horizontal in one so i can bore v-twin motors.

If you have a full size mill, I would go larger, rather than smaller.
Also make a note of the ratio. Older ones tend to be 40:1, newer can be 90:1.
Gravity is not your friend.

I use rotary table just to drill the hole every 30° for fix adjustable hub,but now i use an electronic ignition adjustable  8).
So i can adjust timing with a software,rev limter too,etc ... very interesting  ! >http://www.ignitech.cz/english/aindex.htm

Grubby, my guess would be a Honda mower frame.
You never win a race by focusing on one aspect of the race!  Motor isn't everything, but you better have a good one!  Chassis too!  But remember, a driver can take a slow machine and make it faster!  I may not have/be the best of any of these but I'm trying!
