Tecumseh 17.5 6 plug harness
« on: December 22, 2006, 05:59:08 pm »
looking for some help, got a new engine with only one side of a 6 plug harness, its a 17.5 Tecumseh Formula.... I'm just wondering, anyone know what these wires are for?

there are 4 wires,
2 big (red and yellow, guessing red is coil, yellow for alternator)
2 small (red and green red unknown goes into carb, green appears grounded over by throttle linkage assembly)

cosidering replacing the wiring harness first thought is trailer wiring harness (all bigger than needed wires), unless someone knows where I can get the other side, which is prefered.

I did search, but not sure what I'm looking for on this one...

Unknown red would I suspect be to the fuel shut off solenoid,

Green going to ground over by the throttle linkage is probably a kill switch as well. Sounds like the magneto ground common on many throttle cables.

Try here:

http://www.tulsaenginewarehouse.com/catalog/kohler/accessories/ignition/solenoids/

That one is Kohler but they should have something for Tecumseh as well.
