Gx 160 replacement pistons
« on: March 06, 2012, 03:59:39 pm »
Has anybody milled the top of one of the replacement gx 160 pistons that have a dish in them? Wondering if the deck is thick enough to take the dish out....but then i may have to remove the top ring land if its close. Let me know what youve been able to do/not do with them, thanks.

Jim,
you can mill a certain amount off but, not enough to make a flat-top. Nr Racing sell new take-out flat tops for $10.00 or box new for around $28. The new take out's do use the thicker rings (tier 2).

Thanks Ron, that helps a ton....i been looking at them pistons in the kart catalogs, but the prices are a little high. The ones i just got were ebay specials, and lo and behold, werent true flat tops.
