other passions....
« on: March 05, 2012, 11:37:17 pm »
Lets hear some other things you guys are into and see some pictures. I do a lot of different things and they usually involve my family in one way or the other. If it's something the wife and kids can't or don't want to do they at least go along with me 99% of the time. I've been BBQing for a long time. I have 2 other buddies that started a few years after I did ( after eating smoked food here at the house). We get the families together several times a year and cook/drink beer. These usually turn into huge gatherings because the word gets out a little more every year. I would say that's been my main passion the last few years.
Last year we decided to enter some competitions. Didn't do half bad for the set up we were working with. We just used 4 texas style smokers like you find at wal-mart or places like that. Mounted those on a utility trailer and headed out. Our best contest we took a 10th in chicken, 6th in pork, and 3rd in ribs. Here's a picture of our set up. Notice we tend to place more emphasis on comfort.  That's my 5er I wagged to all the competitions. Due to schedules this summer we won't be able to enter any competitions but we'll still get together regularly and cook. It's become tradition.

I have a 98 formula with heads, cam, stall, and 3.73's that I take to the track during rentals every once in a while. Run's 11.80's at full weight and drives to and from the track with the a/c on :D It sits more than it drives these days though just due to the fact I don't want to put a bunch of miles on it and I'm saving it for my son. I recently started modding my 06 duramax. Nothing major really....straight exhaust, torsion bars cranked enough to fit 33's under it, and a little 90HP tow tune. I do all the computer tuning on both myself. I live in the treestand during the fall too....I've never added up the hours I spend hunting during bow season but it's a ton.

wow......cool stuff. I'd love to have some of that equipment here at the house.  :D I've been playing guitar ~20 years. Used to play mostly 80's rock/metal type stuff. I have a Crate 90w head and 4x12 cabinet with a line 6 pod. My guitars are a bc rich bich, ibanez rg series, and a fender acoustic. These days the acoustic gets most of the action. I got turned onto Texas Red Dirt a couple years back and I"m hooked on guys like Casy Donahew, Stoney LaRue, and Josh Abbott.

Uhhh, I dont have any pics handy, but my facebook page is full of them. Fabrication is a passion, hobby, almost a profession and pure addiction. Why? I dunno, I just like it. Aside from lawn mower racing, dad and I tag team alot of stuff from turning wrenches in the shop, mud drag racing, currently truck pulling in the "Pro Street" class, ride 4 wheelers and have talked about trying some GNCC hair scrambles this year as well.

Yup, I used to build custom Bass Guitar Tour rigs to....Mine is (2) 2x12's, and (2) 1x18's built into custom Road Ready Enclosures/Stainless Steel Grills – Powered by a modest QSC PL236 Pro Tour 3600watt Power Amp & Eden Navigator Bass Preamp.

I still have too many basses(for sale if the $$ is right): Two Zon Legacy Elite's 4 & 5 string, Two Modulus Quantum Sweet Spot's 4 & 5 string, Music Man 4 & 5, Lakland 94-5 5 String, Yamaha BB5500 5 string, Crescent Moon Guitars 5 String Bass(1st one ever made - Serial #01), Warrior 5 String Prototype(1 of 5 made) Washburn AB-20 Acoustic Bass and Two handmade basses....and one lonely Epiphone les Paul Black Beauty.  Dang, forgot I still had all this stuff!

I was "toying" with the idea of coming out of retirement and playing some acoustic bass - need to find a nice acoustic 5 string.

Oh yeah….then there was 22 years of Hardcore Motocross racing….38 broken bones later………….

Corn Dog!

I have just gotten nto Collecting and Restoring Wheel Horse Tractors.
I love old farm equipment, tools, etc...
Building an NQS Puller in my Spare-Spare time?

this is a Wheel Horse 1046, a 1966 Model 10 HP and was a low production. At one time there were only 3 KNOWN left. I am sure there are quite a bit more, but it is definitely one of the more rare tractors.

This is a 1961 Model 551 "Suburban" that I will be picking up later this year, believe it or not when I am done it will look like this one...

That is a 1960 model, basically the same as mine.
