Does my mower pass ARMA rules?
« on: March 05, 2012, 02:58:12 pm »
I was told at an ARMA race that my mower isn't legal, as it's less than 4" inch from frame to ground on the front, but after I read the rules it seems to state that rule exempts Super Modified classes. Is this true, I would run in Super Modified Single.

if its LOWER than 4" it is considered Super Mod Twin/Single

That's what I thought but was told I'd have to bring it up to 4" , I'd definetly be in the Super Modified Single, this group is new to ARMA rules and didn't ask me what class I would be running in, but I thought that would be obvious. I just needed to know incase I ran at another track that was ARMA sanctioned.

My mower is built for Super Modified Single, only issue was the ground clearance, my front end is less than 4"

OK THEN, IF THE FRONT IS LOWER THAN 4" HOW HIGH IS THE REAR? IN SUPER MOD THE ENTIRE FRAME CAN BE NO HIGHER THAN 4".

The back is 4", but they said that was fine. I think at that track they were checking "everyone" to be 4" and above.

Lynn, I replied to you on the Phat Bottom forum too. As far as I know you are the first person to come out to our track with a super mod. I would be willing to bet that the tech guy just didn't realize that. Even though we have been an ARMA track for 2 yrs we are really just starting to enforce ARMA class rules and get away from some of the"outlaw" classes that we have had in the past. There are still quite a few people who are trying to help but don't fully know all of the rules and it will take us some time to work all of that out. I hope this helps you out

Thanks, That's what I thought happened but that was my first ARMA race too and wasn't sure. Another guy that I normally race with was told the same thing. Had I'd known I was legal I would have turned in my ARMA membership. It was just an honest mistake and you guys run a great track.

Not as bad as winning the race and getting a T-shirt that says " Phatbottom" on the back  :P
