Good Point Grub.......stock coil uses the Ignitor, Briggs does not.
Wonder if it works with the Stock Kawi coil/ingitor combo.......bet it will start easier as the ignitor advances the timming during the start cycle and helps ignition all the way around.
And these new Billet Flywheels typically use a high out put Neodynium magnets too.

Think I'll try it on my built 460 and see what cooks.......might try a colder plug. Hmmmm....

NOT SURE ABOUT THE TIMING ADVANCE. A STOCK FLYWHEEL AND COIL THAT USES THE EXTERNAL IGNITER CAN NOT INTERCHANGE WITH THE COIL THAT HAS THE IGNITER BUILT INTO THE COIL. I BELIEVE ITS A MAGNET LOCATION ISSUE BETWEEN THE 2.

Good point, the coils I have, Use the ignitor separately Have not seen one with the ignitor built in yet.

Also..FYI....these series engines use two different flywheels, one with a plastic cooling fin and one with a cast fin...and they use  different coils(you know this).......but...I busted the myth.......the flywheel is not that much lighter that the cast fin(I have them both for a 420 & 540).......I weighed all 4 of them. The 540's weight is very close - within 1/10th lbs........the 420's are the same.
The plastic fin flywheels are typically used on the newer K2 series....which may use the ignitor/coil combo you are talking about.

So where can I get one made for my fc420

There are no Billet Flywheels available for the Kawasaki FC420V to my knowledge. The displacement is too small and the engine is not competitive in performance non - stock classes. 420cc/25cu. Briggs and Tecumseh will walk the dogs on this engine. It may work well in a governed class. I know of a couple that are quite happy and have had success in J/P with the 420.

CHECK OUT A CUSTOM MACHINE SHOP.

I checked into it for the 540....$1200.00 to $1500.00 for the engineering/CAD/CNC fee's.
There's been "Talk" about someone making them for the 540...but that's just it... "Talk". (I even offered to buy three.)
That about what I paid to have a Billet Rod made for a FB460. And the will only make them in minimum Lot's of 4.
My net cost is $265.00ea in a lot of 4....that's just too darn much. Then again, don't think I have ever seen a stock 460 rod let go. And now the new rules allow you to use OHV's so....it was an expensive learning curve and mistake.

Guess thats just your opinion I have ran a briggs ohv and a flathead in the ungoverned single class and I just put this kawasaki 420 on there and it has way more power than the briggs motors in stock form and it pulls harder for longer from bottom to top also. But I have an outstanding handling mower we went to test and tune and ran a governed motor with unlimited ratio (modxr) and were outrunning the ungoverned mowers so handling and drivability have something to do with it also.

Oh well you can still bore it out and take the counterweight out and balance the crank it would turn up really fast then. There are plenty of people running 30ci vannys against 44,49 inteks and 50ci tec. And they have no problem keeping up. It's just all in how u build your motor I'm thinking about running misc with it in 2013 if I can get a billet wheel made
