16 hp magnum blowin oil

Got a 16 hp kohler magnum model number MV168, pulled it out of the field friday night and its runnin tonite. BUT its blowin oil out of the lower cylinders exhaust. just wondering everyones thoughts on it before I tear into it. Plan to lap the valves and polish remove the govenor the basics for our local area "pro stock class" . Any info would be appreciated.

Check the oil level. Check compression. Do a leak test.

What did you do to assertain you needed rings?
This is a teaching tool... no need to lock it up.

I did a pressure test anf found what I thought, a leaking #2 cyl. Tore it down  and found it to be that the rings were installed wrong. so I replaced them and I am now in the process of reassembly. This will be the last magnum i lay hands on, what a heavy motor
