What size tires and rims for ap
« on: December 17, 2011, 05:20:56 pm »
Hey guys. Should be getting my mowers from rooster soon. Just wondering what size tires and rims to use in ap? I'll most likely get alloy kart rims but not sure what width. Also walmart by my ladys house has 15x6.5x6 inch turf tires would the be legal and mount to 6 x 9 rims?

We are going to run 13x6.50-6 tires on 7.25x6 wheels on all 4 corners.

I have run 6" dia by 8" wide for the past 6 years, they have done well for me.

I did better with narrow tires on wide rims on my AP...Front and rear...

Zero push...throttle steer with just a squeez of the Go lever...

4" and 5" tires on 5" and 6" rims respectively

Just a note on the Walmart tires, if they are the Hi-Run brand, you're better off saving until you can buy something better.  I went through three of them this year on my Right Rear, the cords on the inside bead kept coming apart.

15x6.5x6 might be a little tall for an AP not saying you can't do it but most are running a shorter tire  in AP

Lol!!!!! Thats what she said!!!
You never win a race by focusing on one aspect of the race!  Motor isn't everything, but you better have a good one!  Chassis too!  But remember, a driver can take a slow machine and make it faster!  I may not have/be the best of any of these but I'm trying!

Where did you find them? I prefer them on the front compared to 6.50.

Are you using Tubes?
If not, using tubes will make it much easier to get them mounted.
Just be sure to air them up a little at a time to be sure:
- The tube doesn't squirt out between the tire and wheel and pinch...
- The valve stem doesn't get pinched..

You may have to bounce the tire/rim gently on the floor/bench in between adding air a little at a time to help the tire slide along.... a slight lube will help this too..
