Yea Carroll has collected and built a few over the years. Most of em are for kart style motors we have one  a new one we just built that does both. But the electronics went down on it.

There is a shop down the road from where I work that only work on Dodge vipers  ;), I know they have a Dyno, I wonder if you could fit a mower on one. It would be nice to know what wheel to ground hp is.... :)

One of our dyno's (land and sea) has the option of being bolted to the wheel hub to measure torque at the wheel. But I don't think we have the right attachments to do so. We been using it as a vetical setup off the crank.

Someone needs to design a chassis dyno for carts and mowers!!!

There is a shop in town here (stevens Point, Wi.) that has a chassis dyno. I know a local racer who did run his a/p on it. They only put it on one roller, and strapped it down, so it is possible.

Thats cool to know I went to ask the guys at the shop down the street from me and they said it wouldn't work, but I don't think they wanted to mess with it. But I did find a guy that has a dyno with one drum, I am gonna give him a call next week to see if he will run it! I will keep you posted on the results!!!

Off subject but...
Adapt a pto pump to crank, proper threaded fitting with high pressure hoses (Like hoses for rear stability legs on a backhoe: as an example etc...)  connected to a adjustable high pressure valve. Set valve so exceleration takes around 8-10 secs. Compare rpms run on track to area with fastest excel. on large faced tach without over-reving. If needed adjust gearing accordingly. When setting valve to allow longer duration of exceleration, set it where you can start and stop a stopwatch easily. Get a time from before and after the range run on track. Without moving valve make any change to engine whether on or off mower and compare times (even to determine which engine to use or save for a big event). Rate of excel in range run is all I look at, hp and trqe mean nothing to me when making changes. This may receive a reasonable amount of criticism, but it was intended for those that build their own or unable to afford high$$ parts and tweak what they have(no telling how much you have not being used). Can be used from setting timing to any mod.

If not sure if something is safe, it probably isn't. Wear safety goggles, takes a while to flush out of eyes if you have a leak.

Butcher.

HOW'D WE GET FROM CAMS TO DYNOS?  :confused:IF YOU CHANGE CAMS DURING A DYNO TEST THE POWER BAND WILL CHANGE.RIGHT. SO DEPENDING ON TRACK SIZE AND CONFIGUREATION AND WHEN POWER BAND (IN RPM RANGE) IS WANTED. WOULD BE YOUR CAM CHOICE,AND ALSO YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER COMPRESSION,HEAD PORTING,AND FINAL GEAR RATIO.AND ATON OF OTHER THINGS.

ANYWAY I HOPE THATS RIGHT IF I'M WRONG PLEASE, CORRECT ME. :worried:

P.S. I'M BUILDING A 16 H.P. VANNY ANY RECOMMENDATIONS? I AM GOING TO BUY FLYWHEEL & CONNECTING RODS FROM E.C. OTHER THAN THAT I ALL READY HAVE REV KIT & CAM.  :woo:

A rev kit!!!!!!!!! Let me guess from Hodge!! Is it 8 shims 4 pushrods and new retainers.  If thats all it is you are very limited in top rpm. Toss the shims and retainers and buy some EC dual springs and billet retainers. Much better off. Also TURN YOUR CAPS OFF... And you don't change cams per track to stay in the power band. YOU change your gearing to stay in the power band. Much eaier and cheaper.
