700 with bearings
« on: October 16, 2011, 03:29:14 am »
I had a 700 case awhile back that had roller bearings on the output shaft. I haven't seen one since and it was missing the id tag so I have no info to go off of.
It seems like that case would work out well, any ideas ?

Just got one of those little while back. They they me it's a 700-039. Check search [left side] for I D without tag [or go down in this section and see it]. Is it just the case or the whole thing? If its just the case, I'm not sure if the output shaft is the same as the bushing shaft. Probaly not, and the cost or parts availabilty my be a problem.

The shafts are the same dimension wise. My out put was coarse spline and came out both sides. I changed it to a fine spline piece out of last years tranny. The course spline was 4 key shaft and the fine slpine is only 2.

Parts might be harder to get or more $$ but if it holds up a bit longer due to the bearings it might be a wash.
