So we've been working out in the shop again with the warmer weather...
Sami cut the mower deck sections and I welded them on...needed to "discretely" move the fenders to clear the wheels, but it's starting to look like something now...
We put the deck flush with the running boards to give a bit more foot room...
Underneath, we set the stock disk brake in it's raised position, this particular set up uses the chain sprocket as the brake disc...a couple new metalic pads cut to fit and they should be solid...
We also added a center brace to the axel...Trying to stay in the "low buck arena" I converted the stock "diff" to a straight 3/4" hardened splined axel.
Going 3/4" allows us to stay with the stock steel tires and wheels (rather than getting hubs and matcing rims for a 1" axel..as well as use the stock 3/4" bearings and hangers...
I know 3/4" is light duty...but then so is Sami...
If it bends, it's a $24 axel replacement...if it becomes a problem, we'll look into 1" axel/hubs/rims/bearing/etc...
Edit:Add PicI thought this would be harder than it was...Pulled spyder gears out cut a slot for the Key and tapped an allen screw in to hold it...
Instant gear hub... fits 3/4" axel and we can stay with all stock parts/tires/rims/bearings etc...
