Squid, had the same problem on my SP, I dont know what the back side of youre filter looks like or what the adapter looks like.I fabed my own adapter then found the prob at assembly.I recut the adapter and put the filter at a 30 degree angle upward.(peddle was already pretty low)in the end it worked out good, and looks a little tricker.Id show you a pic but I would have to have my kids show me how to do that   if I could  you'd see that I to went with purple, but my sponser is a custom paint shop that works on everything from harleys to semis and they got quite radical with the airbrushing. Anyway,at the rate your working Im shure you've made the repair by now and are moving forward.

The adaptor I got from Don at G-Team...aluminum, velocity stack ported to match modified carb venturi...

Air filter has 10* angle on it ..I turned and twisted ten ways from Sunday and the clutch pedal still hits...

Rather than mess with flow charicteristics of carb...I would rather reconfigure linkage to clear...

I can work the angles to maintain leverage and the lower position will fit Sami beter...

And No it's not done yet...

Just took the pics this afternoon and took the evening off from working on it...

Momma was looking at me kinda strange and said "Do I Know You...??" when I sat down to dinner tonight...

Figured I "better" spend a little quality time with the family tonight...

Have to wait till tomorrow to see the result..

Lowered Clutch pedal to clear Air cleaner...Also gives better "toe to heel" response for Sami's smaller foot...Adjusted clutch link to even out foot pressure needed to operate...

Also lowered Brake pedal on other side to match...Making the mowchine "fit" and comfortable and easy to operate the pedals will go a long way in allowing Sami to concentrate on driving...Those things were awfully high even for me.. Now down to 4 1/2" off deck..

No point in cleaning the garage until the project's done because it'll only get dirty again, and also you won't be able the stuff you're working with.

The mower's looking great so far.

Slight adjustment to plans here...

While fireing up Sami's Stage 1 motor it developed a "slight" oil leak... http://www.heymow.com/viewtopic.php?t=593

So I pulled it and replaced with my back up IMOW stock motor... A good runing 13.5 hp with the 28R cam, starts great and runs consistant so I wanted to stay with stock carb...

Unfortunatly, I can't close the hood with the stock aircleaner so I need to go with the aftermarket filter...

Lot of guys asked about the "adaptor" on the stage 1 motor...which was an aluminum velocity stack for a modified carb...

This is more of a show than go trick, but the extra air can't hurt...

Took a 2 1/2" PVC Pipe cap...

Flattened the end to get a good seal...marked and drilled for bolt holes... opened up the carb inlet hole...then tapered and smoothed the inside for flow...

A little gasket sealer to seal it up and sand the outside to "rough it up" so the filter sticks..a $1 part and ten minutes with the Dremel and instant Air Filter Adaptor...
