Fuel for a stock engine
« on: September 15, 2011, 10:00:28 pm »
How high of octane can you run in a stock engine without damaging it or fouling plugs? I hear some folks are running as high as 103 but I thought that high of octane was only for high compression engines.

Run regular 87 oct, anymore is a complete waste of money. Octane is for high compression or lots of spark advance. You will loose power with high oct numbers. Use search to get real details on why.

Lower compression requires less octane. Lower octane fuel burns quicker. So it will actually make more power in a low compression engine.

If you like smell you can also add the top lube that alcohol engines have to use.. it can smell like bananas, cherry, etc... people think it's neat when they come to your pit and it smells like fruit.. :)

Nothing like the smell of bananas in the pit. Where do you get the stuff?
