I always thought the foam braces where only for reducing neck fatigue from the helmet, and would actually do nothing in a crash?

The foam neck braces do a lot more than you think. I was in a crash early last year and I was thrown from my mower flying threw the air and my head (with my helmet and neck brace on of course) took the whole impact before the rest of my body even hit the track. My helmet took the whole blow for the upper part of my body. Needless to say it busted my helmet but keep in mind we were racing at full speed. No doubt the way I hit if I hadn't had the neck brace on that my neck would have been broke. I can't speak for all foam neck braces but mine is a karting neck brace that I used when I use to race karts. It did a very good job but the rest of my body was really sore, couldn't even sleep in a bed for over a month due to the pain. I don't want anyone to think I'm saying a foam neck brace is better than the leatt neck braces because it's probably not. If I had the money I'd probably own one myself.

Not true!
They may no longer be the best thing out there, but they are a ton better than nothing!
One of the most serious neck injuries I have had is from tripping and falling while wearing a helmet....I ould've been better off without the helmet!
When I started racing neck braces were not required in all but the top levels of racing. Alot of guys got injuries just from even small collisions simply from the weight of the helmet slinging their head around.
In 2008 I was thrown off my mower, landing on my head on pavement. I was wearing one of those cheap worthless foam collars, my neck was never even sore from the crash.

Just because someone does not wear the latest and greatest design doesn't mean he isn't serious about safety. Maybe he just hasn't yet been convinced of the latest and greatest design! Some of us take a little longer to trust new things. Or maybe the guy just isn't educated about the new designs? That is why we have Heymow!

I have made a call to Leatt to send me both models to try out, will let you know and I will have others test it also.BUT no I'm not gonna give it a 'crash test'.....my helmet is still scratchless and I'm proud of that, but I do have some stupid friends.....lol... from what I've seen tutorials and actual video I think testing is not needed but I wanna see how they fit as to the kids vs. adults and being able to fit them properly.I would like to get ONE so I can share it with my son if possible.I'm hoping they are not a pain to adjust.....George lemme know..

Lol...No, I was walking thru the pits ...get this...helmet on, not strapped, and neck brace in my hand?
Anyone who has ever walked in a helmet knows...you better keep an eye on the ground!
I stopped and turned around because someone said something to me.....while turned away a floor jack handle appeared in front of my feet!

Good news is, the neck collar kept me from hurting my hand on the asp[halt!

There are many styles of helmets on the market, street cycle, auto racing, motocross, etc.  Is there one type or style of helmet that works better or gives better range of motion, right/left rotation, up/down movement while wearing the brace?
