intek head swap
« on: July 11, 2011, 11:16:59 am »
I was asked if heads from a 20hp intek would fit on a 24hp intek..
I would think the 24hp would have larger valves or something , what do you guys think?

As far as I know, all three models 40,44,49, share the same heads.  Only real technical difference between these engines is bore size.  Cranks interchange, journals are the same dia., etc.

49 cube is different, bigger valves and chamber is different.

so does that mean the 49 heads are way better for the 40 or are not worth the hassle

Both valves?  Or just the intake?

Chamber bigger?

According to what I've researched on parts tree (never actually seen a 49 cu head) the valves are the same but the head is different (I'm guessing bigger combustion chamber). Either way the heads do interchange as a pair on the 49 and are identical between the 40 and 44. The 49 block has a better head gasket sealing surface than the the 44.

Parts tree is a web site, http://www.partstree.com/parts/ . They have every diagram for many small engines.
