New track in Joplin Mo.
« on: May 30, 2011, 11:08:50 pm »
Well after a rough week in here in Joplin . I'm happy to report that work is back underway on my track . I've got most of the grading done and will be working on the parking and pit areas next . I "will be ready" for weekly races by spring .
I hope to be able to get in some test and tune sessions in next few months . I will keep you all posted and as soon as I have a good surface laid down, I'll send out an invite for anyone that would like to come and run laps .
I ended up building an oval that is about 1/10 mile with 25 ft wide straightaways and 30+ ft. wide turns with slight banking . I plan to build in a little more banking when I lay down the surface .
We went out this after noon with a mower and ran probably 50 laps on it . I'm using and old 11 hp. craftsman that will run 40 to 50  mph with its current pulley combination . It's just one I built to help work out any bugs with the track layout . We didnt have to lift much in the turns and if the surface was a little smoother I'm sure we could run flat out all the way around .
I'll try to get a few pics posted in the next few days .
Stay Tuned .

Make your starights 30ft wide and the turn 40. It will make for much better racing especially when you get a wad of mowers running together. Nothing like going three wide for the finish!!!

So how long are your straight-a-ways approximately? 180'-ish?
