Opposed twin carb questions
« on: May 17, 2011, 09:45:59 pm »
Hey guys, I've been reaserching the opposed carb and went back to one of my old posts where this site was brought up with this post. http://racingmower.smfforfree.com/index.php/topic,55.0.html Well I read the whole thread, went and looked at THAWLEYS pictures, then went back and read that thread again, and looked at the pictures a little closer, in this picture could you tell me the stuff I circled is and what it does please?

I'm guessing the thing I circled in blue is the puke tank, but why does it have two lines?, and circled in red the two nipples with the clear hoses tied into one blue hose, I'm guessing theats a carb overflow? And finaly the line threaded into the intake on the left hand side as we view it, is that the pulse line for the carb? If you can answer those questions that would be awsome. Also the choke on both carbs I looked at have the choke removed, if removed how do you plug the two holes? thanks guys. By the way thats Runningonemptys mower.
sorry I didn't realize how small the picture was after I moddified it, heres a link to the picture, http://s363.photobucket.com/albums/oo76/timmer383/?action=view&current=100_2396.jpg#!oZZ130QQcurrentZZhttp%3A%2F%2Fs363.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Foo76%2Ftimmer383%2F%3Faction%3Dview%26current%3D100_2399.jpg

Puke tank is self explanatory. From what I can see the pic is correct. You are on the right track PM me for some more info.

I didn't have very good luck running an opposed with the carb mounted like that.  Had to spin the carb 180 to get the main jet in fuel.

All I can make out is what appears to be a fuel pump cover.  Have to go to the other site to see the original pic.  At the end of the thread he mentions rotating the carb.

I have a modified big tube oppy horizontal intake and Intek twin 2 barrel carb. It's now illegal in our club. It wasn't as good as a Tillotson HR though ;).

Would the Hor. intake flow better than a Ver. intake?
