centrifugal cluches .. free?
« on: May 06, 2011, 11:14:02 am »
Hey guys, over in the low budget garage I've been making a lot of progress but now im kinda stuck until I get wheels. So I decided to kill some time on a project I've been wanting to do..

I have a razor bella electric moped that I got from the dump, but electronics are fried and I probly weigh too much for it anyway.

So im going to take a 3.5 briggs and mount it where the batteries once sat.

I need a centrifigul clutch to round out the project, but I don't have any money..

Soo, what could I take one off? a chainsaw?
That's the only thing that came to mind for me, and my thoughts is it would be too light duty and just slip.
Any suggestions on picking things that run HD clutch that I could scrounge off and put on my moped?

Your motor wouldnt turn enough RPM to make it engage, and if it did, the motor would not live for very long...best be tis gonna be a cheap kart clutch from TSC id imagine...at least for low budget that will actually work

Check on junk ATVs. They have clutch or torque convertors.

They are what is called a "wet" clutch though. They are usually in the crankcase or off the side of the block but still in oil.

Cheap cart clutch...

That's the only thing that will fit the motor shaft....

i did a project a few years back, putting a chainsaw motor on one of those pedal kid "go kart's" and lets just say it was a huge dissapointment, to everyone.

might have been the cc or the motor was just tired, but it would barely even move a 60 pound child.

You could put a double pull on it and run one belt to a small alternator.. that could service a battery and a lighting system...
