Mine has always blown fuel out of the carb. Everyone I build does that, I do not know why they do that, but they do!

hmmm the only reason i asked is cuz my friends opie would do the same but he had oiled his prefilter and it was restricting the carb too much and would cause it to burp and fart and hardly run... might want to check valve lash seen that cause it too... maybe flywheel key also?
There's somethin' in the works...

Ok I know that it is carb problem now for sure.  I can't figure out why it still acts up.  I cleaned it and blew out every orifice in it.  It ran great for 5 minutes with good power and response.  Then it went to crap again.  I have a good inline filter so it shouldn't get any dirt in it.  It acts like it can't get fuel.  I pulled the cap off the tank to make sure it was venting and still have the same problem.  No matter what I did it would not RPM up and then it would all of a sudden surge and jump up and then backfire and drop RPM.  It would surge like this until I got mad and parked the mower which was about another 5 minutes.  I have a good pulse on the pump.  What could cause it to run so sporadic?

Recent Test and Tune for Soltra,  A guy had a spider nest in his fuel line that was causing that same problem

Pump failure?

Why would it run good for 5 minutes and then start acting up?  And then it would never run right after that.  Could an air leak after the carb cause the same problems, bad gaskets?

I have heard they are hard on coils. If it runs OK after it sits for a while and cools down, it could possibly be a bad coil.

Had an oppy once that would run OK for 15mins then develop a misfire. A timing light revealed the problem. I replaced the coil problem over. It would only misfire hot.
If it has blades I'm not interested.

Finally going to get a chance to race this bad boy today.  I totally rebuilt the carb.  I think I had a bad diaphragm.  It seems to be running perfect now.  We will see how it races.  Wish me luck.
