Most times, if the valve gets bent, the retainer came off.
If the cam broke, I wouldn't be surprized, that is the nature of the spoker cams.
If the cam broke, then the rods got into it, or the rod broke first
and got into the cam. I have seen that in grass cutters. If the
cam gets hit in the right spot in valve timing, it will bend a valve.
