But, at some point many prefer to have reliable hp versus peak hp. I know I don't build the most hp, but mine survive.

I understand that..i would not see a reason for the stroker crank then. A lot of builders want to build as many cubes as possible to more easily make their fair power engines and, that's fine if that't what they want. When a customer pays the big money for big power that is what they should get..they will from me. I will tell you the big power engines will break the offset small journal crankshafts when cranking up the horsepower dial!!!!!!

I can build almost 12 hp out of them, and never break a sweat, let alone a crank!

Nice thing about a genuine Honda is they have a forged crank

Isn't the a honda crank still the best stock crank as far as streinth ,I meen honda,s kinda got a rep as building good engines that meet higher quality/ standards! I meen most of time if you have a honda on say a splitter it'll bring more $ than say a clone, briggs or other! They didn't get that repatation by building junk I'm not saying that clones are junk I've heard the ppl building don't have same standards!

And the honda is made in japan? I bet if  you found the right source of info, you would find out wherever any engine is made, the parts more than likely were sourced from china.

I wouldnt be afraid of the clone. You can beat them and beat them hard. Look at the karting world. A friend runs an open 390 clone at vestaburg kart speedway. Beats it to death and ots never failed. Mike clements has said a mild build can net 40hp. All day.

Ferris I dont think there are any bad ones. If your building it for racing the bad parts are thrown away. If your leaning on one hard your gonna have a good rod and flywheel in it. If you want it to live and be reliable and get a season out of one your not gonna have it set on kill so I see now problem breaking a crankshaft. Your gonna put good valves in it. Good springs. What else could go wrong.

If you run the stock rod journal diameter you wont break any cranks. The clone cranks are pretty tough..i have broke the cylinders off a couple blocks but never broke a crank. I run around 40 degrees of timing and been over 8000rpm on my alcohol engines.
