MCP brakes.
« on: April 03, 2011, 11:30:57 pm »
i have  a set of these in dot 5 that i ordered new. and put on my c/p. they are the second set that i have had problems with. i never could get them to work right they will not lock up no matter what. i pushed the pedal so hard that the line blew off the master cylinder once. this is the second set of them ive owned and both sets gave me problems the first one i finally got to work with a another new master cylinder. what is possibly wrong with these. i jus took them offf tonight to be replaced with 4 wheeler brakes...but im still wonderin what the deal is.....

personally i dnt think i'll ever buy these brand brakes again i'm tired of messin with them and  i'm through wasting my time getting no where

Ok this is going to sound really dumb, but the only way to make sure MCP brakes work well, first make sure all air is bled out, make sure pads are adjusted in right, then,
find ya a nice long flat stretch and wind it up then barely touch the pedal. Let it take forever to stop you. Just get them good and hot. Then park it, let things cool and they should work great after that.

How about increasing the pedal ratio? Travel goes up and so does pressure along with making it easier to push. I know you said you blew a line, but that sometimes happens.

Never had good luck with MCP. Going with 3/4 inch Wilwood for front and rear brakes.

I don't trust those lines.  I'm ruuning braded stainless lines on mine.

I do the same thing on all of my builds and tell my customers to do the same, if you switch to the AN3 fittings and braided lines you will be much happier for sure.

well im not sure what you mean by pedal ratio but ive tried stuff on pushin the cylinder in. it dnt matter how or what you push it in with either by foot or hand or etc. it only goes in so far each time and stops at the same place. and still no brakes

Thank you!!!! im not alone lol not the only that dont like them lol

I haven't been happy with mine either. I had a line blow going into a corner 3 wide and I was on the inside, not a good outcome
